Marble Bar proudly promote itself as the hottest town in Oz. It holds a world record for the most consecutive days with temperature exceeding 100°F (37.8°C). In 1924, the temperature did not fall below this level for 161 days and in true Aussie tradition Marble bar is full of monuments dedicated to this achievement.
This rusted and graffiti covered car wreck was photographed on the outskirts of the town. Throughout the trip, I saw many abandoned vehicles being reclaimed by the bush and I found them excellent subjects. The Roman Catholic Church in the far distance was closed in 1980 after congregation numbers had fallen too low.
