The River Nile flows through Aswan and life in the city revolves around it. The White Nile has its source at Lake Victoria while the Blue Nile originates at Lake Tana, Ethiopia. The two Niles meet at Khartoum, Sudan, then flow northwards to empty into the Mediterranean Sea.
From an early age children built toy boats and rafts and play in its waters. These two boys own a small fleet which they sail and row on the river, allowing them to develop their river skills.
